Middle school students recently participated in a Socratic seminar called "Defining Genius." Students were able to engage in discussion that was facilitated by other gifted students. Some great questions to come out of the seminar include: "Does genetics play the predominant role or can one develop skills and talents to become a genius?" "Can one be a genius when there are no resources available?" One amazing piece that we watched was Kelvin Doe. Watch it if you have the opportunity!
Students have also been learning about the concept of "whole brain learning." It is about engaging both brain hemispheres in a way that is similar to Leonardo da Vinci. Students created mind maps to help study for one of their other classes to put this theory into practice.
